Root Directory

Sorry but I am new to this.

I am trying to upload sitemaps through filezilla by following the instructions.

I am up to the point where I have created the files sitemap.xml & ror.xml.

It states to add these to the root directory. What is the root directory please?

that is the directory where your website files are located.
