Dear XML-Sitemaps Team,

Could you describe the purpose of the parameter "Detect canonical URL meta tags:  enable canonical URLs" (Advanced Settings), please?

If this parameter will be enabled the system will include into a sitemap URLs of pages with rel="canonical" only? Unfortunately I didn't found this info in Help.

Hello,

with this option enabled, generator bot will check canonical meta tags in crawled pages, and in case if it doesn't match current page URL, it will visit the link from canonical tag. Otherwise (if no canonical tag present), current page URL is simply added in sitemap.
