Sitemap Generator Forum

Site has approx 980 pages, Generator has recently started showing count as 4000+ pages. HTML sitemap only shows actual 980 pages though: this seemed to start about time I added a new dropdown menu to all pages.

Can you advise whats happening (and how to fix?)

is there a link in sitemap that doesn't actually exist on your site?

The problem seems to originate with a particular page, at which point the other site pages are recounted again and again (going to about 4900 pages) in this manner:

e.g., Current page: marvel-comics-worldwide-entertainment.php/xml/data/large-darwyn-cooke-here-be-monsters.php

e.g., Current page: marvel-comics-worldwide-entertainment.php/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/xml/data/z041-superman-scott-mcdaniel.php

If I remove the page (marvel-comics-worldwide-entertainment.php) from the site and rerun the crawl, I get the accurate page count (1025).

What is wrong with that page?

Looks like there is an incorrect link to "xml/data..." somewhere on that page.
