Sitemaps Crashes due to "lack" of ressources/ Server load

I have set up the generator for [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] but with no problems with [ External links are visible to forum administrators only ] the crawler keeps on crashing. Can you please tell me the optimal configuration to run whis thing with out crashing or which settings take up the least ressources??? The site has about 10 000+ pages and the server has a 1GB memory
