Dear Admin,

After using the free online sitemap generator My Sitemap includes two identical links to my homepage:

<loc>[external links are visible to admins only]</loc>
  <priority>1.00</priority>
  <lastmod>2008-11-20T18:16:42+00:00</lastmod>
  <changefreq>always</changefreq>
</url>
<url>
  <loc>[external links are visible to admins only]</loc>
  <priority>0.80</priority>
  <lastmod>2008-11-20T18:16:42+00:00</lastmod>
  <changefreq>always</changefreq>

Should I keep both of them? If not, which one should be removed?

Canl I just open sitemap.xml and then remove:
 the first one:                            <loc>[external links are visible to admins only]</loc>
 or the 2nd one:                        <loc>[external links are visible to admins only]</loc>   
?

Hello,

normally there should be no duplicate links in sitemap, if you can post your website URL, please do (so that I can check it).
Yes, you can manually remove one of the links from sitemap, make sure that you don't add other text/remove other lines.

Please check and tell me why this is the case. There was another thread on this topic and the amin who replied there said it was from your side which can be fixed.

Hello,

I see that first entry is for <domain.com> and the second one is <domain.com/index.html>, even if those URLs are the same on your website they both are included since links are different.

Dear Admin,

Should I keep both?

Also, when I submitted the sitemap generated by the free online xml-sitemaps engine, Google warned me saying that all my pages are dynamic, when in reality they're all static.

How can I change all of them back to static ?

You can keep both of them.

Make sure that you *don't* select "Always" for "Change frequency".
