Sitemap and cluster setup

Hi,

We currently upgrade our site to work from multiple server and we also implement a cache solution. We are now trying to run the sitemap app from a dedicated server just to generate the sitemap of the site.

Questions:

1. Is this remote setup possible?

2. Should I disable ping the search engines until the sitemap is propagated over the cluster and manually ping the search engines?

Hello,

1. yes, that's possible. You can generate sitemap on one of the servers and distribute it then.

2. yes, I'd recommend to avoid immediate auto-ping and wait until sitemap files are synced on all your servers.
