What happens when I update a page
« on: March 04, 2010, 10:43:13 AM »
Hi.

I got my tilte info wrong on my front page of the website. I have just changed it and created another sitemap. It seemed to be very small compaired to the first one I generated. My question is does Generator just update the files that have been changed, it does not do a full sitemap again. If this is the case, do I now have to what for Google to pick up my changes.

Many Thanks

Hello,

full sitemap is recreated every time.
It takes time for google to process your sitemap and crawl/index new pages.

Hi.

This is  the info I got for my first sitemap
DATE/TIME: 2010-02-14 18:50
TOTAL PAGES:19,425
PROC TIME: 10,698.00s
BANDWIDTH:836.41.

My last five sitemaps have this info:
ADTE/TIME:2010-03-05 11:58
TOTAL PAGES: 3,975
PROC TIME:1,924.10s
BANDWIDTH:152.55

As you can see there is a massive difference in pages from 19,425 to just 3,975 now.

Hope you can help.

Thanks

Hello,

I'll need an example URL to check this further, otherwise I couldn't find what causes the problem.
